2008 Fender Jazz Bass – Musical Gear

The Jazz Bass (or J Bass) was Fenders way of offering an alternative to its loyal followers. Deviating from the rich midrange sound of the Precision Bass line of guitars, Fender first launched the Jazz Bass line in 1960 as the Deluxe Model.

The Jazz Bass has undergone much evolution through the decades. In 2008, Fender gave birth to a new American Standard line. The 2008 American Standard Jazz Bass maintained the rolled-edge neck with highly detailed nut and fret work and the rounded body shape. Gone is the S-1 switching system.

So what’s new? Features like the high-mass vintage bridge, Hipshot lightweight vintage-style tuning machines, a richer and deeper neck tint, gloss maple or rosewood fingerboard and satin back for smooth playability. It also has an improved resonance because of the thinner finish undercoat.
